excerpt from a book i'll never write

at 3 a.m. my eyes pop open. nothing woke me up, but i realize i'm famished. cookies, i definitely need cookies.
i roll over and snuggle up to the angel in my bed, 'hey honey, i need cookies." he half opens his eyes but doesn't make any noise other than a low groan of aggravation since i woke him up. "wake up, i need cookies."
"what? why do you need cookies in the middle of the night?"
"don't ask questions, we're going downstairs. there are chocolate chips in the pantry and everything else we need too."
"why do we have all of the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies?"
"emergencies? duh." i say raising my eyebrow, what isn't he getting. i get out of bed and start walking down the stairs in just his over-sized t-shirt before my angel gets out of bed.

excerpts from a book i'll never write

… kids yelling as a red headed little boy finds his sister’s hiding spot behind the barn. now it is his turn to find a spot to hide. the little girl, with her hair braided in pigtails, begins counting with her eyes covered. slowly but surely she gets to 20 after skipping a few numbers. i’m watching everything from the wrap around porch. a fan lazily spinning over my head keeps me cool. i watch my angel working in the yard, the muscles in his arms stretching and contracting.

you're everywhere

You’re everywhere
✣ ✣ ✣
I smell you in my hair
I feel you on my skin
I hear you in my head
I taste you on my lips
I see you in my dreams
✣ ✣ ✣
Even when you’re gone I still sense you everywhere

excerpt from a book i'll never write

✣ ✣ ✣
… the soft bustle of the market floats through the open bay window. the sill is full of dusty pink blankets and white fur pillows. a persian cat is laying on the bed, where the dark grey comforter is pulled down exposing the sheet lighter sheet. pillows litter the ground around the bed frame. curly blonde hair is peeking out from a pillow left on the bed leading down to a bareback. the soft contours of his back as it rises and falls with each breathe. the smells of baguettes and coffee mingle with the voices from downstairs as the come through the window. the reflection of the rising sun on the Seine is the only light in the room. it lights his hair like a halo, an angel asleep in my bed- our bed. a knock on the door from M. Dore bringing croissants and black coffee. The Angel sleeps through the door opening and brief conversation but rolls over when the door shuts. a sleepy smile across his face as he rubs his eyes. The Angel walks towards the bay window, where i sit, in just his boxers and places a kiss on my forehead.
